These beautiful hair barrettes are handmade by the Embera Chami artisan group, Asociación de Artesanas Imaginando con las Manos, based in Jardín, Antioquia, Colombia. Each pair is carefully woven using a beading technique called stringing. Each design takes anywhere from 2 to 4 days to complete.
Barrettes work well for securing sections of hair, such as bangs, or for adding a decorative touch to half-up hairstyles, braids, or buns.
Decide where you want to place the barrette. Use your fingers or a comb to gather the desired section of hair.
Hold the barrette in both hands and gently press the ends or lever to open.
Place the barrette over the gathered section of hair. Once in position, release the clasp so it snaps shut, securing the hair in place.

Barrette Care
These hair barrettes are delicate, handmade pieces that require special care to preserve their beauty and craftsmanship.
Handle with care: Avoid dropping or pulling on the barrettes, as they are made with seed beads and intricate stitching.
Keep dry: Avoid exposure to water, moisture, or humidity, as this can weaken the threads and damage the beads. Remove your barrette before swimming or showering. If it gets wet: air-dry
Store safely: When not in use, store your barrette in a dry, safe place—ideally in its original packaging (Raices Tejidas pouch) or jewelry box—to prevent tangling or crushing.
Clean gently: If needed, wipe carefully with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using water or cleaning solutions.
As each piece is handcrafted, slight variations in size, stitching, and measurements may occur, making each barrette truly unique.
